Two New Orleans police officers are undergoing surgery after being shot during a traffic stop near City Park.
Two suspects were also shot Thursday morning by the officers. One suspect died at the scene and the other was wounded, police superintendent Ronal Serpas told The Associated Press.
Serpas said the officers were taken to a local hospital and immediately taken into surgery.
The injured suspect was taken to Interim LSU Public Hospital with a gunshot wound to his leg and is in stable condition, a spokesoman for EMS told NOLA.com.
Officers at the scene are investigating. Names those involved have been released pending notification of their families, NOLA.com reported.
