Android operating system is now one of the top in all smartphone OS and its in way to become the first choice of users. There is different OS version of Android running on smartphones but still only 65.9% of phone running the Android 2.2 Froyo. And the new 2.3.3 is only in 3.0% of all Android smartphones.
These stats according to official Android Developer page which based on data collected during a 14-day period ending on May 2, 2011. The following pie chart and table is based on the number of Android devices that have accessed Android Market within a 14-day period ending on the data collection date noted below.
The Android 2.1 OS is still running on 24.5 % of all active devices which is down from 27.2 % form April. The update versions of Android like Android 2.3 Gingerbread, Android 2.3.3 and Android 3.0 still far back and even back from Android 1.5 and Android 1.6 versions. Android 1.6 was present on 3.0 5 of active Android devices which is down from 3.5 percent and Android 1.5 still running on 2.3 % of smartphones which is down from 2.7 %.
The Android 2.3 in only in 1.0 % of active smartphones, up from 0.8% a month ago, another updated Android 2.3.3 is sits on 3.0% which is up from 1.7% from last month. The newest Android 3.0 Honeycomb which is optimized for tablets is running on 0.3 % of devices only.
