A South Jersey township clerk, accused of stealing more than $1,200 in fees, surrendered herself this morning to authorities. Carla Ann Sarlo, 44, of Cinnaminson, had been a clerk for eight years in the Delanco Township construction office. In 2011, she collected cash meant to pay permit fees and rental registration. Investigators said she recorded eight transactions in an office log and then, to conceal the thefts, voided the entries. She used the funds to pay for gasoline, food and her cellphone bill, said Joel Bewley, spokesman for the Burlington County Prosecutor's office. She was terminated in August.
