Jury selection is under way today in the trial of Melissa Haskell for murder in death of a 5-month-old child in her care 20 years ago in Montgomery County.Ryan Baurley’s death in 1992 was initially attributed to sudden infant death, an unexplained affliction which claims very young children. That declaration stood until April 2011, when Haskell, of Bridgeport, allegedly told a confidant that, drug-addled from heroin withdrawal, she fed an infant whiskey in his crib and smothered him because he would not stop crying.
